WHO IS SIERRA?

The recognized leader in Citation Performance Enhancement Modifications had its modest beginnings in early 1983, in the south central Texas community of Uvalde. Sierra originated as a Flight Operations and Aircraft Maintenance Center with a toe-hold in the modifications industry. The company prospered under the able direction of its President, Mark Huffstutler and within a few years had received FAA approval for a number of STC’d modifications applicable to selected single-engine and twin-engine aircraft.

In 1986, Sierra obtained the rights to produce the EAGLE and LONGWING modifications pertaining to certain models of Cessna Citation aircraft. Sierra has also acquired the rights to Branson Industries’ line of Citation modifications, and the highly regarded Robertson R/STOL line of Performance and Safety Enhancement modifications. In 1999, Sierra again acquired another highly regarded line of aircraft performance enhancements owned by the Dee Howard company of San Antonio, Texas.

Over the years, Sierra’s product offering has increased from 5 products to more than 300 performance and safety modifications and aircraft enhancement items approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under its Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) authorization authority.

PERSONNEL AND FACILITIES

Sierra Industries has prospered under Mr. Huffstutler’s forward-looking management style and is now the world’s largest modification center specializing in Citation 500/501 series aircraft. Sierra’s forward planning has fostered continued growth from the date of its incorporation. Starting with 10 employees and 11,000 square feet of hangar and production facilities, Sierra has steadily increased its assets to its present position, with a highly capable staff of more than 125 employees and over 74,000 square feet of hangar and office space.

The employee base includes a nucleus of Maintenance and Modification Specialists consisting of highly trained, FAA-licensed mechanics, under the direction of a select group of FAA-approved inspection and quality assurance personnel. They are supported by an extremely capable and highly diversified office staff, providing the logistical expertise for the entire operation. A well-equipped Sheet Metal Shop and a state-of-the-art Machine Shop manufactures replacement and repair parts and FAA approved parts under a Parts Manufacturing Authority (PMA) setup. The Sierra Industries facility was certified in 1993 as an FAA Approved Repair Station under Air Agency Certificate No. SI6R285J.
